I'm A Hermit

"I'm a hermit." I think that's what I'm going to say if anyone asks me "What do you do?" or what-have-you: "I'm a hermit. All I do is think and write."

That's all I really want to be, to have, a little quiet stone cottage in the English countryside living largely as a hermit (with internet and communication channels open of course). Not too far from anything by car, but far enough that when I want to be by myself (and that's often) I easily can be.

I'm so tired of, I assume 'extroverts', who assert that anyone by themselves is lonely, these extroverts who seem to find crowds so relaxing. It is so the opposite for me. There's nothing I like better than peace and quiet, and to communicate on my terms as often (and as little) as I want.

The whole world today seems to see constant social interaction as normal for everyone, perhaps because of the constant injection of reality TV showing the most extreme of extroverts exposing every facet of their lives to anyone they can possibly interact with...

But it's not normal of course. That's why we need dramas, usually written by more introverted people, which can show a greater diversity of personality than the extremist extrovert.
