Survey and polls can no longer be trusted. They are useless. People have wised up. They (we) now use them to send a message of what we want and don't want, not what we're going to do.
Witness the UK election polls post-debate, business confidence surveys, ... these no longer say what we're going to do, they say how pissed off we are; they deliver a message of no confidence in the government or the electoral system, at least as much as we can via a blunt device that doesn't ask the questions, and thus allow the responses, we really want to give.
